Quality Care, Affordable Price.

Sagen Centre provides first-rate care at an affordable price. Rent subsidies for low-income residents are available through the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Qualification will be determined by completing an application and allowing the staff to verify income sources. There is no obligation to rent an apartment until you are ready.

Balancing independence with supportive care Sagen Centre provides a comfortable, home like atmosphere in which residents can lead an independent and fulfilling lifestyle, yet it also offers 24-hour support and care. It is an affordable option for low-income, elderly residents who are able to manage most of their personal care but need help with some tasks such as laundry, housekeeping, medication and meals.

Sagen Centre is jointly operated by Gundersen Lutheran and Bethany Lutheran Homes and is conveniently located on the hospital grounds at 2221 Sims Place, La Crosse, WI. Sagen Centre is a licensed by the State of Wisconsin as a Community-Base Residential Facility (CBRF).

A comfortable home, friends and activities

At Sagen Centre, residents have separate bedrooms, but share common living space such as the two living rooms, dining room and kitchen. There are 10 spacious private rooms and couples can be accommodated in one room. Rooms can be individualized with pictures, mementos, furniture and other items such as a television or plants.

Sagen Centre residents enjoy a large degree of independence. They may come and go as they please, have visitors any time and enjoy a host of recreational and social events.

A caring staff

Sagen Centre has compassionate staff and dedicated volunteers who provide dignity and care for mind, body and spirit. Sagen Centre offers the following services:
  • Three nutritious meals a day and snacks.
  • Complete housekeeping and laundry services.
  • 24-hour caring staff including awake over night personnel.
  • Onsite registered nurse 20 hours per week.
  • 24-hour on-call medical assistance.
  • Medication management and health monitoring.
  • Escort and transportation services.
  • A choice of three to four daily activities.

*Community-Based Residential Facility

Community-Based Residential Facility community CBRF's are regulated by the state of Wisconsin. Sagen Centre is required to do background checks on employees before hiring them. Our staff is trained in first aid, fire safety, medication distribution, and nutrition and caring for the elderly. The state inspects all CBRF's regularly and will investigate any complaints about care or services.
